Welcome to Pitman High School . . . Home of the Pride!

On behalf of the entire staff, I would like to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year.  It is with great honor and enthusiasm that I am joining the Pitman Pride.  Let me begin by introducing myself!  My name is Angela Freeman.  I have been working in the district for the past 15 years as a teacher, instructional coach, and administrator.  I was born and raised in Turlock and my husband and I have two children who attend Turlock schools.  I truly enjoy working with students and families; my heart lies within education and being another positive adult in students’ lives.

Pitman High School is entering its seventeenth school year.  This past May our school received the Western Association of School and Colleges (WASC) six-year accreditation.  Our school action plan in our WASC report is to improve literacy skills for all students, strengthen collaborative work on campus among all stakeholders to become an authentic professional learning community, and to improve the pass rate of students in mathematics courses. These goals will be achieved through various actions plans during the course of the year.  Our WASC accreditation mirrors the strategic work that our collaborative teams have accomplished over the past few years.  It also supports our school mission that states, “Success for Each Student…Pitman students will graduate as responsible citizens who are college and career ready.”

As well as supporting student academic success, the Pitman community strives to emphasize positive character in our students.  It is our goal to teach, model, and reinforce the traits of respect, responsibility, grit (perseverance), and zest (a passion for learning) at Pitman High School.  These qualities are essential elements of being an effective learner and citizen.

We have quite a few new Pride staff members this year!  Please welcome Tanya Wright (Dean), Jennifer Andrade (History), Jaime Suarez (History), Kimberly Nunes (Special Ed.), Thomas Galdos (Special Ed.), Nicholas Martino (Adult Transition), Vaughn Burkamper (Math), Michael Moore (Criminal Justice), Randy Heinrichs (English/ELD), Briana Ioane (English), Linda Clinton (Ag), Kristen Cole (College & Career Counselor), Keaton Garcia (Career Center), and Michelle Kuntz (Account Technician) to the Pride Family!

I look forward to meeting and working with your student.  Please contact the school office if you have any questions.
